Shattercast 26 – Neil Gaiman Goes To Hell

It’s getting political again.  Jake, Gav and monthly guest Sean kick things off wondering how the hell Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal won an actual serious award, follow up by discussing Neil Gaiman’s brouhaha with Minnesota politician Matt Dean and finish off pondering how Canada became so prudish as to seize comics at the border.

Shattercast 25 – Truth, justice and the American way — it’s not enough anymore

Back from an unintended hiatus, Jake and Gav dust off the mics and yack it up, comics style.  This week, they wade into the latest happenings in the DC Universe, including Superman’s citizenship status and the return of Swamp Thing and John Constantine.  They also devote a bit of attention to the real world, looking at a fire that killed a man but spared his comics and the deafening of earth’s ears as far as space is concerned.

Free Comic Book Day 2011

This is one my my favourite days of the year.  My son and I get up, have a nice healthy breakfast and then go on a comic store crawl.  Where I live, there’s only four, but they’re also relatively close to each other, like everything else here.  Some years the public library plays along, and it’s (not surprisingly) also close to everything.

Since this is the first year Shatterday Comics has had a chance to get in on the fun, we’ve put together a 31 page sampler comic featuring pages from 3 of our titles: The Everlasting Return of mR mILDEW by L. E. Mullin; XD: Exit Demigods by Johanne Light and 31 Ghosts by Gavin de Lint.  Before you get out there and scour your local comic book shops, start free comic book day off digitally.  Click the cover to download the PDF.  (If you have an iPad, I’d recommend opening it up in iBooks – it looks SWEET)

Shattercast 24 – Does The Internet Need A Fake Nerd Girl?

In the last episode recorded before the Great Shatterday Comics Web Disaster, Sean Hoyle is back to look at the week’s nerd news with Jake and Gav.  Many questions are answered, such as “Does the internet need a fake nerd girl?”, “Why does Hollywood think Superman only has two villains?” and “Did the Green Lantern trailer give you a boner?”

Shattercast, What The Hell happened?

As part of the task of rebuilding Shatterday, We also need to get all of our Shattercast subscribers over to our new servers.  Now, as geeky as I am, most of that geek skill is used for remembering comic trivia and not learning how to work ‘the internet’.  I think I’ve figured it out.  If this brief podcast makes it to your iTunes, then this is a happy day.  If not, then somewhere on the Canadian Prairies a man will be swearing kicking things.
